Juliet Betts - Writer

Since 2005, she has been developing her creative writing talents primarily in the field of play writing. Her first script “I Will if You Will” was performed at the Dylan Thomas Centre’s “Play Offs” during the 2005/6 season. Since then she has moved into both acting and directing as well as continuing to develop scripts for theatre. In 2008 she was awarded a “Tinny” for best actor (female) at the Swansea Bay Film Festival. Since 2007, Juliet has been working on a play based on real events in her home town, Oxford. The play, “Walls”, reached the finals of the “Play Offs” in 2008. A longer version was performed as part of Women Centre Stage at the Dylan Thomas Centre in March 2009, directed by Derek Cobley. She is in the process of submitting a 45 minute version of the play to Fluellen Theatre Company and to BBC Radio 4. As part of a local writing group called Peacock Vein, Juliet is putting on a play(supported by the Arts Council) at the Pontardawe Arts Centre called “The Angels Arms” in September 2009. Her work been very well received by both audiences and fellow writers, locally and abroad. Juliet’s latest project is a short screenplay called “In the Dark” which is currently being filmed in Swansea. When completed, it will be submitted to a number of international film festivals in 2009/2010.
